Visual Arts Classes at the Creative Arts Guild offer students of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to explore art in a supportive and nurturing environment that welcomes exploration, discovery and development of skill, and technique. SUMMER ART CAMPS

MORNING ART CAMPS FOR AGES 5-9

All camps meet from 9am-12pm. All prices include supplies. Please call to register and receive a 10% discount for siblings or enrollment in multiple weeks.

Discovering Art

June 6-9 $160 In this class, children will have the opportunity to learn about art while experimenting with a variety of media. Students will learn how to express their imaginations while exploring drawing, painting, ceramic, and sculpture techniques. Each child will create multiple artworks while gaining a better understanding of the creative process.
Animal Art June 13-16 $160 Each day, a special animal friend will visit the class from the Animal Hospital of Whitfield County. Campers will enjoy a special lesson about the visiting animal led by veterinary staff before creating a new masterpiece inspired by their friend of the day.
Dancers and Degas - Multi-Disciplinary June 20-23 $175 Campers will enjoy a fun-filled Ballet experience! They will spend their time split between the art room and the dance studio creating masterpieces both on the dance floor and with a paintbrush. Campers will need to wear comfortable clothes suitable for painting and dancing. Bring water bottle.
Encanto - Multi-Disciplinary June 27-30 $175 NOTE: The 9am-12pm camp is FULL. We have added a 1pm-4pm camp so more campers can join in the fun! Come join the family Madrigal with enchantment-filled fun! Each day we will delve into the magical, and fantastical world of Encanto in our dance, art, and music camp. But shhhhhh…don’t talk about Bruno! Campers should bring a water bottle. They need to wear comfortable clothes that they can move and create art in. Pricing includes supply fee.
Whose Art Is It Anyway? July 5-7 $160 Taught by Creative Arts Guild staff, campers will spend the week exploring famous artists and styles while working on their own masterpieces each day.

 

AFTERNOON ART CAMPS FOR AGES 10-14

All camps meet from 1pm-4pm unless otherwise noted. All prices include supplies. Please call to register and receive a 10% discount for siblings or enrollment in multiple weeks.

Adventures in Art with Paula Plott Gregg

June 13-16 $180 Students explore and challenge themselves with new techniques and mediums. Student artists will have fun and get a little messy, as they embark on creative projects using paint, collage, wood, and mixed media to make their own masterpieces.
Shakespeare Theater Camp - Multi-Disciplinary (12-18yrs) June 20-23, 9am-4pm $200 Come join us for our first ever Shakespeare camp! This camp will introduce students to the theatrical world of William Shakespeare. The camp is designed to help build confidence in young actors as well as develop a greater understanding of Shakespeare and theatre in general. They will sit in on workshops with theatre educators, practice monologue and scene work with professional actors from the Conasauga Shakespeare Coalition. The campers will be able to put into practice all that they have learned in a showcase immediately preceding the opening of the Conasauga Shakespeare Coalition’s performance Thursday, June 23rd. Pricing includes supply fee. Sibling/Multiple week discount does not apply.
Teen Painting with Sandra Babb June 27-30 $180 In this class watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints will be introduced and used. While this is a structured course on painting methods, students’ interests on subject matters will be taken into consideration.

ADULT CLASSES

ACRYLIC PAINTING (BEGINNER-ADVANCED)

This course focuses on acrylic painting techniques, materials, color theory, and composition. This course will be taught with the knowledge that discoveries will follow naturally, and technique and color will be emphasized. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome. A materials list will be provided. Contact the instructor, Sandra Babb, at sandra@babb.com with questions. Students bring their own supplies.

OPEN STUDIO WITH LIVE MODEL

Ages 18 & Up, $30/Drop-In

Our open studio with live model provides an opportunity to practice the principles of line, mass, composition, anatomy, foreshortening, values, color, and other components of classical fine art. This is where artists of every level can directly apply their chosen tactile medium to visually translate the human form. Feel free to sketch, draw, paint – odorless solvents only – as you are inspired. Contact the facilitator, Sandra Babb, at sandra@babb.com with any questions.

 


More Art Opportunities

Private Art Lessons

Private art lessons are available for students of all ages. With private lessons, the student can concentrate on any medium they choose. The student will meet one-on-one with the art instructor weekly. If you are interested in taking private art lessons, please call 706.217.6677. $45 per hour

Art Parties

Celebrate birthdays and other special occasions with an Art Party at the Creative Arts Guild. We can accommodate any age and build a custom themed party and art activity just for you! What medium does the child or adult particularly enjoy? We will create an art activity to fit that interest. Party includes 1 hour of instruction and all the supplies needed to create a work of art for each guest to take home and an additional 30 minutes of party time. We will supply paper products. $200 for up to 10 guest; $15 per additional guest; $100 deposit required to hold date


Visual Art Department Guidelines:

Registration: Visit our Registration Portal to register for classes. Registration is taken throughout the year and on first come-first serve basis. A $30 Yearly Registration Fee will be charged at time of Registration for fall classes. Classes with less than 3 students are subject to close due to low attendance or registration. Families of the closed class will be contacted prior to the last day. Staff members will assist in finding placement in another class.

Tuition and Withdrawal Policy: Visual Art classes are billed out monthly. Tuition is billed out the 1st of the month. A $10 late fee will incur if tuition is not paid by the 10th of the month. Registering for a class and/or lesson is a commitment to attend as scheduled. If for any reason you or your student cannot continue, you must notify the Guild/Instructor by completing a withdrawal notice. Accounts are charged for classes until a withdrawal request is received. 30-day notice must be given for classes/lessons. Students withdrawing from class or lessons with less than 30-day notice must pay for the following month.

Makeup Classes: If a teacher cannot attend a class they will arrange for a substitute, in the event that no substitute can be found the teacher may offer a make-up class. In the event that classes are canceled due to inclement weather, classes will be made up at the discretion of the teacher.
