Art Classes for Children and Teens


Art for Homeschool Students

This exploratory class will use various art materials and apply different art techniques to create pieces that are inspired by nature. In addition to making their own masterpieces, students will also look to the past and learn about art history. Contact the instructor, Sandra Babb, at sandra@babb.com with any questions.

Tuition: $100/month, $20 one time supply fee


Caricature and Gesture Drawing

This class will explore the fundamentals of drawing with an emphasis on studying the elements that create good artistic foundation. Elements include – seeing, values, perspective, composition, and gesture. The hope is to inspire students to create good habits based on these fundamentals.  

Work will be done in soft lead (4B+), charcoal (med-soft), and black, brown or dark gray pastel - can work with all three or pick your favorite. Any smooth surface drawing paper or pad will do (11x14). Students will need to bring their own supplies. Contact the instructor, Noah Stokes at noahstokes@yahoo.com with any questions.

Discovering Art

In this class, children will have the opportunity to learn about art while experimenting with a variety of media. Students will learn how to express their imaginations while exploring drawing, painting, ceramic and sculpture techniques. Each child will create multiple artworks while gaining a better understanding of the creative process. Teens Painting Class

In this class, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints will be introduced and used. While this is a structured course on painting methods, students’ interests on subject matters will be taken into consideration. Contact the instructor, Sandra Babb, at sandra@babb.com with any questions.

Acrylic Painting (Beginner - Advanced)

This course focuses on acrylic painting techniques, materials, color theory, and composition. This course will be taught with the knowledge that discoveries will follow naturally, and technique and color will be emphasized. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome. This class will explore the fun of caricature and teach you how the pros work to get a likeness. You will learn the importance of seeing and drawing shapes and how they relate to one another to make the caricature ring true. We will study how to look for weight, how to use value to create form, how seeing the skull will help you construct a likeness and more.

Life Drawing (All levels welcome)

Pottery for Ages 18 to 98

Pottery for Adults: 4-Week Session

This 4-week session is intended for all wanting to learn the basics of pottery. Projects will include pinch, coil and slab techniques and learning to center clay on the potter’s wheel. Students will make cylinders, bowls and sculptural works. All clay works will be Bisque fired and Glaze fired. Vessels will be safe for food usage. Rising Rembrandts Teen Painting
Ages 12-18

This beginning painting class will address the elements of art through the medium of acrylic. During the course of the week, students will explore line, shape, value, composition and, ultimately, end the class with a work of art that they will be proud to hang on the wall.
