A Taste of Dalton: FESTIVAL Preview Party | September 20th, 2019
Friday, 7pm-9pm - Ticketed Evening Event
The Creative Arts Guild’s 56th Annual Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts weekend will be held September 20th - 22nd, 2019 on the Guild’s campus at 520 West Waugh Street, Dalton, GA 30720.
The Creative Arts Guild is Georgia’s oldest multidisciplinary community arts center. We will celebrate our 56th anniversary in 2019. The Creative Arts Guild is located in northwest Georgia, approximately 20 miles south of Chattanooga TN and 70 miles north of Atlanta.
FESTIVAL 2019 includes:
Indoor Patron Exhibit - a juried exhibit that spans the entirety of the Creative Art Guild's three galleries: Gallery Five20, Gallery One11, and Jonas Hall and is open to artists over the age of 18 working in all mediums. This work will remain up through October 18th!
Outdoor Artist Market - featuring regional artists with booths full of artistic creations and treasures.
Live Music - performed by regional bands all day with new music every hour on the hour
Kids' activities and performances in our new multicultural Children's Hill area - highlighting various countries - each with arts projects and activities that reflect the countries' culture. Kids will receive a passport before they travel from booth to booth (or country to country) and once they complete the activities at each tent, they will get a stamp in their passport commemorating their visit to that country. Children's Hill also will house a Children's Art Market - just for kids - no parents or adults allowed - allowing kids to select an art piece that speaks to them in some way - planting a seed for a lifetime of arts appreciation as well as a collaborative arts project, a reading and multi-cultural storytime booth supported by Dalton-Whitfield County Library, games, and RTW Sculpture Garden scavenger hunt and a booth supported by Home Depot where kids can create a seedling starter.
Bike Parade - Bring your bicycle to the Creative Arts Guild at 9:00am on Saturday, September 20, decorated
in whatever fashion you like (or decorate it on-site). Then join the parade leaving the Guild to ride through Downtown Dalton on a short predetermined and safe parade route. There will be chalk puddles to “splash” through and lots of laughter as the procession winds its way back to the FESTIVAL grounds - making our mark and a visual invitation for all to come to FESTIVAL and join our weekend of festivities. All ages welcome! Find out more or interested in volunteering: Savannah Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org or 706.279.3129.
Self-guided tours of the Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden
Unique food trucks and vendors throughout the weekend.
A shuttle will be provided for parking at First Baptist Church on Saturday and the Library and Senior Center on Sunday.
FESTIVAL is open to the public and admission is free. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the power of the arts in our community!
