The Theatre Arts Program at the Creative Arts Guild invites students to join an education-centered community in which exploration and creativity are paramount! Highlighting the lifelong journey and work of an actor, our program offers a variety of experiences in an Actor's Studio setting that allows for new connections and awakens new truths - providing all of the important building blocks to enhance an actor's performance and to deepen their craft. Theatre Arts offer an opportunity for all of the art forms to come together and for the students' arts exposure and experience to culminate into one multi-disciplinary program. 2019 Summer Class Schedule

 

Creative Players Multi-Disciplinary Performing Arts Camp     

For 1 week in July (15-19), campers can come and spend the day at the Guild. Throughout the day, classes will be offered in acting, dance, music, visual arts, gymnastics, stage makeup, scene design, and more. Campers will also spend a portion of each day in rehearsal for a culminating production that will be performed on the Spigel Pavilion of the Creative Arts Guild on July 19h at 7pm.

 

Creative Players Daily Schedule

10:30-10:45 – Break/Snack
10:45-11:45 – Class 2
11:45-12:15 – Lunch
12:15-12:30 – Ensemble Work
12:30-2:00 - Rehearsal Block 1

*Deposit of $100 is due at registration to hold the student's spot in camp.  The remaining balance can be paid in full by July 15th.

The cost of this camp includes 1 full week of instruction and all supplies for classes and the performance including a Creative Players T-shirt! Snacks and lunch are also provided (you are welcome to pack and bring your own if you prefer). Siblings in the same household receive a $50 discount.

What you need for camp: a pencil, a highlighter, a water bottle, snacks, and lunch if you like (we will have lunch and snack options available if you choose), your script and music (provided), comfortable clothes, and athletic shoes or sandals that are secure (no crocs, flip-flops, heels, etc.).

*Extended Care available 8-9am and 4-6pm for an extra $5/hour.

Before care: $5/day, After care: $10/day, Both: $15/day. Must fill out Extended Care form to reserve.

A Camp Information Packet will be provided after registration. This packet will include a camper information sheet, a t-shirt form, arts class selection form, and an audition form.

Intro to Improv

This class is for all theatrical experience levels ages 16 and up. Students will be presented with the principles of Improvised Theatre and taught basic short-form games (a la Who’s Line Is It Anyway?) and improvised storytelling techniques as used by professionals. No prior theatre experience or familiarity with the form is required. You don’t have to be funny. You don’t have to think quickly on your feet. You just have to be present. Three weeks of classes adds up to 12 total hours of instruction with a showcase on a fourth weekend for students to show off what they’ve learned to family and friends.

Improv for Actors 

This intensive workshop is intended for an intermediate-to-advanced population with some theatre experience and an interest in honing and improving those talents for the stage. No prior experience with Improv itself is needed. The class will introduce Improv with the goal of enhancing scripted work through improved presence, awareness, and listening on stage, as well as collaborative storytelling and emotional availability during performance. Three weeks of classes adds up to 12 total hours of instruction with a showcase on a fourth weekend for students to show off what they’ve learned to family and friends.

Improv for Business/Team-Building Workshop

This one-day workshop can be focused on a single corporate team from one company or a mixed class of professionals from multiple businesses. The course will share Improv techniques from the perspective of developing better business skills, such as active listening, flexible communication, rapid and positive solution ideation, stress management, and promoting a safe and positive work culture. Great for retreats and team-building.
