Art & Wine: The Science of Color

Thursday, May 27 at 6pm

FREE ADMISSION

The Creative Arts Guild is excited to have Guild Instructor, Paint Maker, and Artist Sarah Malone join us for an Art & Wine on Thursday, May 13 at 6 pm. Sarah, who has spent the last 4 years working closely with fine art paint manufacturer Cranfield Colours Ltd in the United Kingdom, will be giving a talk on the science and history of color. This evening will be for painters and patrons alike, and all will leave having learned something new from the chemistry of paint, to the traditional processes of how oil paint has been made, to even learning to identify a paint type by its smell. Come join us for a lighthearted evening enjoyed with a glass of wine and a complimentary tube of oil paint. CAMP DESCRIPTIONS:

ART & NATURE
Using both nature and repurposed items, campers will spend their week learning new techniques and creating a collection of artworks inspired by their experiences.

OUT OF THIS WORLD
Over the course of this four-day camp, we will delve into Space and learn more about the Universe around us. Combining art, science, and LOTS of imagination, campers will be creating works of art that are truly out of this world!

PAINTING PUPPIES & COLLAGING KITTIES
Each day, a special animal friend will visit the class from Animal Hospital of Whitfield County. Campers will enjoy a special lesson about the visiting animal led by veterinary staff before creating a new masterpiece inspired by their friend of the day. A piece from each camper will be selected to be made into a print to hang in the lobby of Animal Hospital of Whitfield County.

CLAY WEEK
Students will spend the first day learning the process of mixing their own air-dry clay from basic kitchen items. The next two days’ students will learn 3 key hand-building techniques to use for a multitude of projects. The final day will be spent painting and finishing their 1-2 projects from the week.

TEEN PAINTING
In this class watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints will be introduced and used. While this is a structured course on painting methods, students’ interests on subject matters will be taken into consideration.

PRINTMAKING WEEK
Students will get to experience 4 different printmaking styles and will gather a broad understanding of what traditional and non-tradition printmaking is. We will work with different material and will produce 4 separate editions of work!

PREHISTORIC WEEK
Students will learn and engage their creative skills learning about fossilized creatures and some of what the cave people used to draw with and on. We will study cave drawings and natural art materials.

ADVENTURES IN ART
Join Paula Plott Gregg for this adventure-filled four-day camp as students explore and challenge themselves with new techniques and mediums. Student artists will have fun and get a little messy as they embark on creative projects using clay, collage, wood, and mixed media to make their own masterpieces.

Guild Policies and Procedures

Registration Fees
Each Visual Arts, Gymnastics, Dance and Music family is charged a registration fee of $30 per family per year. This fee helps to cover administrative costs, overhead, and to offset the cost of the online registration system throughout the year. This fee also holds your student's spot in their class. Registration fees are billed once yearly per family and covers all members of the household in any Guild classes with which they participate.

Withdrawal Policy
Registering for a class and/or lesson is a commitment to attend as scheduled. Visual Art classes are billed in session so the Guild must be notified before the next session begins. Students withdrawing from a session after the session has started are responsible for those sessions fees.
