Gymnastics & Tumbling

Updated Gymnastics class schedule now available.

Tumble Tots, Wiggle Worms, Bouncing Boys & Girls

…. are they gymnasts? You bet they are! Gymnastics is usually described as exercises for developing the muscles and coordination. Our tumbling program at the Guild is based on the Artistic Gymnastics that began in Greece many years ago. Why enroll your children in a gymnastics class? To increase coordination, social skills, and self-confidence and skill progressions that transfer to other activities later in life! From splits to rolls to cartwheels and handsprings, the Guild offers instruction for children 18 months and older.

GYMNASTICS

For the school age student, the Guild offers developmental gymnastics classes based on skill progression and achievement. Students learn skills in a safe and enthusiastic atmosphere with an emphasis on safety. In addition to certified instructors, the Guild's studio is equipped with a foam tumbling floor, balance beams, a regulation bar, and skill building shapes and mats to aid in skill development.

Minnette Lusk originally joined the Guild as an instructor in tumbling, movement, and wellness classes.  She has a diverse background in gymnastics, exercise, and wellness programming.  Minnette comes to the Guild with a BS in Exercise Physiology from Brigham Young University and have over 14 years experience in my field of interest.  I worked as an Exercise Physiologist for Oconee Physical Therapy in Seneca, SC and helped start up Carolina Pines Cardiac Rehab in Hartsville, SC before moving to Dalton.  She currently work at the Bradley Wellness Center in Dalton as a fitness instructor and occasionally do personal training on the side.  Also before moving to Dalton, MinnetteI coached competitive and recreational gymnastics at Upstate Gymnastics in Pendleton, SC where she taught children from 18 months to 18 years gymnastic skills including, balance, coordination, tumbling, and all apparatus.

Aimee Beck joined the Guild's staff in October of 2006. Aimee is a lifelong resident of Dalton and a graduate of Dalton High School. During Aimee's school career she was both a competitive gymnast in both USA Gymnastics and AAU competitions, as well as a varsity and competitive cheerleader at DHS. Aimee is now attending Dalton College pursuing a nursing degree.

Benefits of Tumbling for the Small Child

Involving your child in gymnastics at an early age can be an extremely rewarding experience. Along with an hour of fun and frolic, children are able to experience how their body moves, socialize with other children and enjoy the thrill of learning a new skill.

Coordination, balance, confidence and strength are great for children to learn, regardless of their future plans for athletics or dance. But for those whose future includes dance at the Guild, the tumbling program absolutely grounds children in their sense of motion and grace. Not only can the program be tremendously enjoyable for kids, but parents love to watch as the little ones gain confidence and a sense of identity in the process.
