WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL?
The Creative Arts Guild has partnered up with Instagram account @DaltonThings for an exciting art exhibition celebrating Dalton’s unique history and innovative spirit. Established in 1847, our community is one entrenched in rich tradition and history. We are proud of our community’s ingenuity and resilience and its new renaissance currently being set in motion. We believe these things are reason to create and celebrate.
This exhibit will be divided into two parts:
Dalton: Are You With Us?
Are You With Us? will be a juried exhibit running from November 2 - December 1, 2018, featuring wall mounted artwork from artists that are inspired by our community: its people, places, history, and, of course, its spirit. We encourage artists working in all mediums — Ceramics, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Book Arts, Letterpress, Graphic Design, Fiber, etc. — to submit digital images of up to five (5) original works.
The only requirements are all works must be ready to hang upon drop-off and any works for sale must include a 35% commission in the listed price. Digital entries must be received via online application by September 21, 2018. Notification of accepted artwork will be sent by email by or on October 3, 2018. All artworks for Are You With Us? must be delivered on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. If your schedule prevents you from dropping off on these dates, call to make other arrangements prior to October 26, 2018.
Dalton: Tell Your Friends!
Tell Your Friends! is a one-night art happening on November 7, 2018, that will question and awaken our collective notions of art while also celebrating our community’s spirit and ability to innovate and challenge. Artists interested in creating spoken, performative, or installation pieces are all encouraged to submit descriptive project proposals as an attached PDF. Please include the work’s title, any sketches or reference images, spatial or time requirements. This call is open to both first-time and experienced artists.
Digital entries must be received via online application by September 21, 2018. Notification will be by email of accepted artwork. All artwork for Tell Your Friends! must be installed on November 7, 2018, between 12 - 6 pm. All artwork for Tell Your Friends! must be picked up or uninstalled on November 7, 2018, by 11:59 pm. If you anticipate needing more time to install or uninstall, please call to discuss special arrangements prior to applying.
