The Guild Dance Program offers instruction in modern as well as classical styles of dance for all ages and skill levels; we have classes for toddlers, children, teens and adults! (Moms and Dads: It's never too late to start dancing!)

Spring 2017 CLASSES

Mommy and Me Ballet Fun…4 week sessions 

Parents participate along with their child to help them in the correct movements and encourage the 

Parent/child bond.  This class includes stretching and body awareness exercises and traveling steps that are practiced while holding the hand of the parent and/or instructor.  The last segment of the class is devoted to creative time between the parent and child.  This class meets once a week for 30 minutes.  Comfortable clothes should be worn with socked or bare feet.  Call or drop by to sign up and get information about the first day of the session.

Adult Ballet, Stretch and Strengthening

This class combines the strengthening and elongation of a traditional ballet barre and center to work your body top to bottom.  It is a beginning to intermediate level ballet class that offers a fun way to add to your workout routine.  Both beginners and dancers with previous dance training are welcome.  Please wear leotard and tights or yoga wear - comfortable clothes you can move in.

Creative Movement

For 3 year olds in an atmosphere of fun, this class is designed to introduce the young student to the world of dance.  While learning all of their ballet basics, the class is formatted in a creative way to hold the young dancers attention and keep them interested.  Children will develop an awareness of music and rhythms and will learn to use their bodies and imaginations.  Students should wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers and the appropriate leotard color as indicated.

Classical Ballet and Pointe

For ages 4 and older, ballet is a beautiful art form that requires dedication and discipline.  It is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body while helping to promote good posture and alignment.  Pointe work begins around the age of 10 for the serious dance student after fulfilling the appropriate requirements.  Students should wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers and the appropriate leotard color as indicated below.

Guild Dance Ensemble

For 6th grade and up, the purpose of the Guild Dance Ensemble is to provide a place for trained young dancers who have danced through the years and have a commitment and desire to be stronger dancers but don’t seek a pre-professional track in dance.  The Ensemble is for dancers ages 12 and up who have previous dance training.  Fast learning teen beginners may also be placed in this class.  Pointe work is not required but will be offered to those who are eligible.  (Please also note the Master Tier description which appears later in the schedule.)

For ages 6 and older, Jazz is an excellent complement to ballet training.  This expressive style of dance opens up many new possibilities for movement to the dance student.  Done to popular music, it is a fast paced and fun form of dance.  Pink or black tights may be worn with black jazz shoes.

Dance for Dance Team

This class is for students who are part of a middle or high school dance team or are hoping to audition for their school’s dance team.  Brush up on your dance technique, improve your stretch and flexibility and show your school spirit!  The class instructor will check in with your dance team coach to make sure the individual and team needs are met.

Hip Hop

For ages 8 and older, step out of your box and into the studio as you dive into Hip Hop and more in this class.  Classes start off with a warm-up and then a hip hop combination is broken down each day.  Dancers should wear loose, comfortable clothes that make you want to move.  Tennis shoes may be worn.

Ballet Dalton

In 1990, Ballet Dalton was established as a performance outlet for pre-professional students.  The school’s commitment to quality has produced a polished group of dancers including numerous Governor’s Honors dancers and various college dance program participants.  The Company’s season includes the annual Snow Queen, Spring Recital and Evening Concert and various community performances.  This program is by invitation and audition only.

Master Tier

Designed for Ballet Dalton Company Members and Guild Dance Ensemble dancers, this class offers an extra dancing opportunity to continue to gain strength and knowledge in ballet technique.  Each week, dancers are given new challenges from a class based around jumps and turns to variations classes and so much more.  These dancers also have additional performance opportunities in our end of the year Spring Concert and Recital and various community events.

Snow Queen: The fee for Snow Queen is $30 per dancer and is due by October 15th. The Snow Queen production will be held November 17th - 20th, 2016 at the Dalton High School Theater. In-Theater rehearsals will be November 14th - 16th, 2016 and are required.

Spring Recital: All dancers at the Creative Arts Guild will perform in the annual Spring Recital. Scheduled dates are May 12th (Int. 3's, 4's, and up) and May 13th, 2017 (entire school). In theater rehearsals will be held May 9-11, 2017 and are required.

Recital Costume Fees: A recital costume fee of $75 per class/per costume will be due no later than December 1st. You may pay costume fees in installments prior to December if needed. Please indicate on your payment that it is for recital costumes.

Recital Fees: The spring performance fee is $30/family and is due by February 15th. This fee is for facility rental, lighting, and other off property expenses that we incur.

Class Attire: Please note your specific class colors. Appropriate leotards for your child's class level are available in the Guild Shop. Leotards need to be purchased from our Guild Shop so that they have the appropriate color and Guild logo embroidery. If there is not a leotard that is currently in the shop that is your child's correct size, please see the front desk to pre-order your child's leotard.

Session: Our Yearly Session will run August 11th thru May 18th, 2017. Although months vary in the number of weeks, Monday - Thursday classes recieve 37 taught classes throughtout the yearly session. Tuition remains the same each month. Rehearsals, additional practice, performances, and open gyms cover the additional class time which exceeds the 40 weeks of paid tuition.
