AgThe Guild Dance Program offers instruction in modern as well as classical styles of dance for all ages and skill levels; we have classes for toddlers, children, teens and adults! (Moms and Dads: It's never too late to start dancing!)

Spring 2017 CLASSES

Mommy and Me Ballet Fun — 4 week sessions 

Parents participate along with their child to help them in the correct movements and encourage the 

Parent/child bond.  This class includes stretching and body awareness exercises and traveling steps that are practiced while holding the hand of the parent and/or instructor.  The last segment of the class is devoted to creative time between the parent and child.  This class meets once a week for 30 minutes.  Comfortable clothes should be worn with socked or bare feet.  Call or drop by to sign up and get information about the first day of the session.

Adult Ballet, Stretch and Strengthening

This class combines the strengthening and elongation of a traditional ballet barre and center to work your body top to bottom.  It is a beginning to intermediate level ballet class that offers a fun way to add to your workout routine.  Both beginners and dancers with previous dance training are welcome.  Please wear leotard and tights or yoga wear - comfortable clothes you can move in.

Creative Movement

For 3 year olds in an atmosphere of fun, this class is designed to introduce the young student to the world of dance.  While learning all of their ballet basics, the class is formatted in a creative way to hold the young dancers attention and keep them interested.  Children will develop an awareness of music and rhythms and will learn to use their bodies and imaginations.  Students should wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers and the appropriate leotard color as indicated.

Classical Ballet and Pointe

For ages 4 and older, ballet is a beautiful art form that requires dedication and discipline.  It is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, toning and strengthening the entire body while helping to promote good posture and alignment.  Pointe work begins around the age of 10 for the serious dance student after fulfilling the appropriate requirements.  Students should wear pink tights and pink ballet slippers and the appropriate leotard color as indicated below.

Guild Dance Ensemble

For 6th grade and up, the purpose of the Guild Dance Ensemble is to provide a place for trained young dancers who have danced through the years and have a commitment and desire to be stronger dancers but don’t seek a pre-professional track in dance.  The Ensemble is for dancers ages 12 and up who have previous dance training.  Fast learning teen beginners may also be placed in this class.  Pointe work is not required but will be offered to those who are eligible.  (Please also note the Master Tier description which appears later in the schedule.)

Jazz

For ages 6 and older, Jazz is an excellent complement to ballet training.  This expressive style of dance opens up many new possibilities for movement to the dance student.  Done to popular music, it is a fast paced and fun form of dance.  Pink or black tights may be worn with black jazz shoes.

Dance for Dance Team

This class is for students who are part of a middle or high school dance team or are hoping to audition for their school’s dance team.  Brush up on your dance technique, improve your stretch and flexibility and show your school spirit!  The class instructor will check in with your dance team coach to make sure the individual and team needs are met.

Hip Hop

For ages 8 and older, step out of your box and into the studio as you dive into Hip Hop and more in this class.  Classes start off with a warm-up and then a hip hop combination is broken down each day.  Dancers should wear loose, comfortable clothes that make you want to move.  Tennis shoes may be worn.

Ballet Dalton

In 1990, Ballet Dalton was established as a performance outlet for pre-professional students.  The school’s commitment to quality has produced a polished group of dancers including numerous Governor’s Honors dancers and various college dance program participants.  The Company’s season includes the annual Snow Queen, Spring Recital and Evening Concert and various community performances.  This program is by invitation and audition only.

Master Tier

Designed for Ballet Dalton Company Members and Guild Dance Ensemble dancers, this class offers an extra dancing opportunity to continue to gain strength and knowledge in ballet technique.  Each week, dancers are given new challenges from a class based around jumps and turns to variations classes and so much more.  These dancers also have additional performance opportunities in our end of the year Spring Concert and Recital and various community events.

Ballet Dalton Company Dance Intensive

Company Camp is required for all Ballet Dalton Company members.

Ballet Dalton camp will consist of a two hour technique class each morning, an hour for lunch, 2 hours of rehearsal (for upcoming season) each afternoon as well as dance history throughout each week. (Guild Dance Ensemble members may participate in the morning technique classes from 10:00-12:00.) Ask Mrs. Jessie for details. Dancers should bring their lunch.

Ballet Dalton Master Series

Master Series is required for all Ballet Dalton Company members.

This Junior and Senior Company series will consist of a technique class each of the weeks noted above with a master teacher in various dance genres including ballet, modern and more. This series is mandatory for Ballet Dalton. Master teachers TBA.

YAGP Prep Series

This series is for our Ballet Dalton Senior Company dancers who choose to pursue participation in the 2017 regional competition for the Youth America Grand Prix. Students will learn several variations designed to allow the Director and Assistant Director to assign dancers to their variations for the competition well in advance, giving more time to prepare.

For young ballerinas! In an atmosphere of fun, this class will introduce young children to the world of dance. Beauty and The Beast Camp

Each dancer will Be Our Guest as they delve into the story and music of the hit Disney movie Beauty and the Beast. Students will learn age appropriate ballet technique and should wear leotard, tights, and ballet shoes to class. "Disney Style" costumes worn over leotards and tights are welcome.

Each day uses music and themes from the Moana movie. This camp will whisk away your little dancer to Hawaii, the home of Moana and her friends. We will practice classical ballet to music from the movie, and even allow our little voyagers to explore their own creativity through music at the end of each class. Leotard, tights, and shoes should be worn. "Disney style" costumes worn over ballet attire are welcome.

Musical Theater Dance Camp

This exciting camp is designed for dancers with a passion for music, drama and dance. We will begin each day with a Classical Jazz technique class to enhance our dance skills, followed by an hour of choreography to a fun Musical number. One of our choreography hours will even include a mini voice lesson! The capstone of the week will be a mini performance open to parents and family members in our studio to showcase our student’s hard work.

Superhero Dance Camp (Ballet and Jazz Intro)

Whether it's DC or Marvel, every Super Hero is welcome in this action packed dance camp. Ballet and Jazz Ongoing Technique Classes

Dance is a year-round art form and the Ballet and Jazz Summer Sessions go hand in hand. Students will have the opportunity to participate in both Ballet and Jazz classes and maintain their dance training throughout the summer, helping them continue to grow in their strength, technical ability and artistry and be more ready for fall classes. Dancers will learn age appropriate ballet and jazz movements and combinations and will dance to an array of musical selections. This will be a fast-paced and fun session for the dance enthusiast. This class is appropriate for both beginners and those with some dance experience.

At the Creative Arts Guild, we believe fitness is for the whole family. Sign up for this class and have a great time exercising in a way that feels like playing! Bring your kids with you for some creative modifications to standard callisthenic movements that use your little ones as weight and resistance. We will also explore cardio and stretching in a way that engages the youngest of the family. You won’t want to miss this!

Ever looked at a ballerina and admired their athletic body? This fitness class is designed for adults looking for a fitness regimen that will increase tone, muscle definition, strength, and flexibility, as well as workouts ballet dancers do in the offseason. This class is sure to open your mind to a new world of fitness. Expect to see a smattering of Barre Fitness, Pilates, Yoga, and standard calisthenics. *Optional resistance bands (therabands) and free weights not included but welcome if the students wish to supply their own.

Guild Dance Policies

Late Tutition: Tuition is due by the 10th day of each month. Late tuition will result in a $10 charge. Summer tuition consists of monthly tuition due for June and July or per camp.

Session: Summer Sessions are 8 total weeks of lessons unless otherwise noted.

Make-Up Classes: Please see your instructor to schedule a make-up class. Missed classes will not result in pratedeed tuition or refunds.
