Updated Arts class schedule now available.

ARTS 2 U

The Guild’s arts in education philosophy embodies the concept that quality arts programming and activities are important for whole child development. Our Arts2U programs give children an added opportunity to have those much needed arts experiences. Arts2U programs will begins in November and offers dance, theatre, and visual art classes to students in our local schools during the after school care programs.  Contact the Arts in Education department on how we can offer specific programs for your children and students.  We can design a program to fit the curriculum of your school or accommodate your particular arts education needs. Please contact Renee Rector, Arts Education Director at 259-2846.

O.N. Jonas Foundation Artists-in-Residency

The O.N. Jonas Foundation Artist-in-Residency Program is sponsored by the O.N.Jonas Foundation, Dalton , Whitfield, and Murray County Schools , their PTAs and the Creative Arts Guild. 2007/08 Artist in Residency Programs are dedicated to the late M.B. (Bud) Seretean, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Oscar N Jonas Memorial Foundation. All Jonas Artists-in-Residency programs are open to the public. Please notify the school office when you attend.

The Oscar N Jonas Memorial Foundation was founded in 1968 by friends, business leaders , civic  and educational leaders to perpetuate  Oscar's aspirations for the cultural enrichment of all children in Northwest Georgia.  This foundation promotes Oscar's vision through its sponsorship of the visual, performing and literary arts in Dalton Public Schools, Whitfield  County Schools, and Murray County Schools.

The Foundation's primary focus is the support of an In-School Residency program which annually places artists in all three public schools of  Dalton, Whitfield & Murray County.

For many students, this is their only exposure to the theatre, classical music and the visual arts.  Encounters with the arts stimulate young minds, promote dreams and expand horizons.  The arts provide an entry way to a bright new world, a world of hope and opportunity previously closed to many of our children.

The Board annually receives financial and administrative support from its co-sponsors: concerned individuals and business, The Creative Arts Guild, Dalton Public Schools, Murray County Schools, Whitfield County Schools and the Parent-Teachers Associations of the respective systems.

All programs offered through the Foundation remain free of charge. The generosity of our sponsors makes this vision a reality.

The following artists are scheduled to perform in our local schools. Theses programs are made possible by funding from local parent-teacher associations, school system central offices, the O. N. Jonas Foundation and the Creative Arts Guild. The public is invited to attend any of these performances. It is suggested that you contact the school prior to the performance you want to attend to confirm the performance. Please contact the Creative Arts Guild's Arts in Education Department with any questions by phone 706.259.2846 or email artsed@creativeartsguild.org Renee' Rector, Arts in Education Director.
